UNESCO Campaign - Egypt

First Day Cover from Egypt, 1959.




The stamp (SG 628) is the first one issued for the UNESCO Campaign to saveguard Nubian monuments in 1959. It depicts the Rock Temple of Ramses II in Abu Simbel.




The second issue (SG 650) in 1960 depicts the Rock Temple of Queen Nefertari in Abu Simbel.

  1. Hello I too have the first stamp in my collection on the same envelope. Is there any value to the stamp?

    1. Unfortunately, this is a very common stamp and so has very little value: £0.45 mint / £0.25 used according to SG (6th edition 2005). I think I paid around £0.40 for the FDC.
