Another new addition; this First Day Cover from France, depicting Ramses II on his war chariot.
I already had the stamp (Yvert #1899) but really liked this cover: the left-hand panel shows the same image and is painted on silk.

I really like this stamp issued by France in 1976.Isn't it amazing how the mural's colours have remained so vivid after more than 3000 years?
The stamp depicts Ramses II on his chariot, at the battle of Kadesh and can be found inside his temple at Abu Simbel.
