UNESCO Campaign - Yemen

These stamps were issued in 1963 by the Yemen Arab Republic (SG 224-5). They are the same as SG 159-60, overprinted with "Y.A.R. 27.9.1962", the date of the creation of the Republic.

UNESCO Campaign - Wish List

This Miniature Sheet issued in 1963 is unlisted in Stanley Gibbons but the stamps it shows are SG 224 and SG 225. These are the same as SG 159 and SG 160 issued in 1962 but they are overprinted with "Y.A.R 27.9.1962" - the date the Republic was proclaimed.

UNESCO Campaign - Yemen

This is a Yemen Royalist Civil War issue of the UNESCO Campaign stamp. Issued in 1962, they are imperforate and overprinted with "FREE YEMEN FIGHTS FOR GOD IMAM & COUNTRY" in English and in Arabic (SG R8-9).

UNESCO Campaign - Yemen

In 1961, the Yemen issued a set of two stamps (SG 159-60) and a Souvenir Sheet (SG 160a) for the UNESCO Campaign for Nubia's monuments.

The set depicts Trajan's Kiosk, in Philae. Worth noting: this is the same design as Egypt's 3rd issue, also in 1961, SG 676.

These were waiting for me when I got home today. They are a mint set from the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen and show the Island of Philae.
