Queen Nefertiti - Fujeira

Another classic bust of Queen Nefertiti, from Fujeira this time. It was issued in 1966 and is part of the set commemorating the Cairo Stamp Centenary Exhibition.
Fujeira is one of the former Trucial States on the Persian Gulf (now UAE, United Arab Emirates). Along with Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Ras al Khaima, Sharjah and Umm al Qiwain, Fujeira signed the Perpetual Maritime Truce Agreement with the United Kingdom, in May 1853; under which they all undertook to give up piracy and the slave trade. In common with other states of the UAE, the Fujeira stamp contract was terminated on 01 August 1972. Any further new issues after that date were unauthorised.
