UNESCO Campaign - Togo

Here's a colourful set of three stamps from the Republic of Togo, issued in 1964 for the UNESCO Campaign (SG 370-2).
The first one depicts the Goddess Isis of the Temple of Kalabsha; the second is one of the monumental statues of Ramses II and the third is a view of Philae Temple.

A Souvenir Sheet was also issued showing all 3 stamps.

UNESCO Campaign - Centrafrica

A mint set of three stamps issued by the Republique Centrafricaine, Republic of Central Africa, in 1964 (Scott #CB1-3). Each shows the Isis of Kalabsha Temple.

The temple was originally built at Talmis and was moved to Chellal in 1970 as part of the UNESCO Campaign. It was built in sandstone blocks at the time of the Roman emperor Octavius Augustus (30 to 14 BC).

It was dedicated to the Nubian god Mandoulis, identified with the Egyptian Horus.

UNESCO Campaign - Egypt

This is a lovely mint set (SG 825-7) from Egypt, 1964, which also includes the Souvenir Sheet (SG 828). It is the 6th issue from Egypt for the UNESCO Campaign to save the monuments of Nubia.

The first stamp depicts the God Horus and the facade of Queen Nefertari's temple at Abu Simbel; the second shows a statue of Ramses II and the third a sculpture from Abu Simbel.

The Souvenir Sheet shows the Goddess Isis, from Kalabsha Temple.

UNESCO Campaign - Argentina FDC

This is another one of my favourite covers. Issued on 14 September 1963 in Buenos Aires, it shows a detail from a gigantic bas-relief of Isis from the Temple of Kalabsha.

Another cover issued on 19 October 1963, Buenos Aires.

UNESCO Campaign - Morocco FDC

Here's a beautiful first day cover from Morocco. It was issued on 15 July 1963 to commemorate the UNESCO Campaign to preserve the Nubian monuments.

The three stamps show the temple of Ramses II (SG 137), a bas-relief of the Temple of Kalabsha depicting the Goddess Isis (SG 138) and the Temple of Philae (SG 139).
